Former ADMK Minister joins DMK! What's behind the friction to quit EPS camp?

Former ADMK Minister Dr.Vijay has, on Saturday, joined the DMK party in the presence of DMK President MK Stalin and senior leaders in Chennai.

Dr. Vijay has become the latest example of how politics is getting defined in the state from being for people to being for posts. In what has become one of the major developments, the annexation has happened when the parties are getting prepared for the upcoming assembly polls. According to the reports, Vijay had been one of the key members of the ADMK party in Vellore district.

Vijay had served as the Tamil Nadu Health Minister when Jayalalithaa was the state's Chief Minister. After the demise of Jayalalithaa, Vijay had left ADMK, became a supporter of TTV Dhinakaran, and joined the AMMK party. He was in Dhinakaran's camp for about a year following which he returned to the ADMK party and he was seen as the party's key member in Vellore with the support from the dominant community from the district.

However, the reports say that Vijay had dissented the ADMK party's leadership after he wasn't given the post of what he expected. Dr. Vijay was expecting the post of the district secretary of ADMK for the newly demarcated region in the Vellore district. However, the ADMK party had awarded the post to Appu, who is the strong supporter of Tamil Nadu Minister Veeramani.

As being given with a shock, Vijay was said to have dissented against the party and it was speculated that he would, for this time, join DMK, not AMMK. The reports stated that Vijay had reportedly disrespected Appu, who came to see the former after having been appointed to the post what the former was expecting. The incident had sparked controversy in the district. As per the speculation, Vijay has joined the DMK party on Saturday.

Some reports say that Vijay could have joined the DMK through DMK's Treasurer Duraimurugan, who belongs to Vellore. His decision of joining the ADMK's rival had stirred tensions from the ADMK members in the district as he was picked by Jayalalithaa and she had made him as MLA and Tamil Nadu Minister in 2011-2016.

The development has come at a high time when the Chief Ministerial race for the next elections in the ADMK party gets tough each day with the supporters of both Edappadi Palaniswami and Panneerselvam have been promoting them for the post and to become the party's face in the next elections.
