Food delivery executive tests positive for COVID-19 in Chennai - Here's the update!

A food delivery executive who works with Swiggy, which is one of the most preferred food delivery apps, in Chennai has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) amid the complete lockdown, reports say.

According to the reports, the executive has now been isolated, and getting treated in the city and his family members had also been tested. However, the food delivery platform has asserted that six of his family members had tested negative for the virus and said that it's executive has been under the observation of health authorities. 

The reports stated that the executive has visited more than hundreds of residences in the city to deliver the food since the lockdown was imposed. The company has stated that the executive was immediately quarantined after he tested positive for the virus and his family members too have been kept under quarantine.

The company further stated that it has been working with the local health authorities towards tracing the contacts and the customers to whom the executive delivered food. According to the reports, this has recorded the first case in Chennai where a food delivery executive tested positive for the virus. The reporting of Swiggy's employee has come after the food delivery company has disabled cash payment with the view of limiting contact between delivery partners and customers. 

As of Tuesday evening, the state has reported 2,058 positive cases of which 902 are active patients, 1,128 have been discharged while 25 had succumbed to the virus. Chennai tops the table in the state with having the most number of positive cases. The capital city currently has 673 cases which accounts for 32% of total cases in the state.
