Following Nivar, TN to brace up for two more cyclones! Here's what you need to know

Amid repairing the damages and destructions caused by Cyclone Nivar, the state of Tamil Nadu would be bracing up for the cyclonic weeks as there are two more weather systems that are centered in the Bay of Bengal and it has been expected that one of the weather systems would possibly get intensified into a cyclonic storm by next week and it has been expected to bring the same scale of rainfall brought by Cyclone Nivar.

According to reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted that a low-pressure area may be formed around November 29. The weather bloggers said that the low-pressure area would get intensified into a cyclonic storm before making landfall in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. It has been predicted that this cyclone could hit the coast by December first week and following that, the state could possibly witness another cyclone on December 11.

The Meteorological Department had said both the cyclones could bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, signaling the active phase of the northeast monsoon. IMD said that the low-pressure area would likely be forming over the South Bay of Bengal around November 29 and it will be moving towards south Tamil Nadu. The experts say that the cyclone could bring heavy rainfall in the delta region and the coastal districts including Chennai on December 1 and 2.

Addressing the reporters about the two more weather systems on Friday, Balachandran, the director of the Regional Meteorological Center in Chennai said that the meteorological center had predicted that the low-pressure area could get intensified as a depression on December 30 following which it would get formed as a cyclonic storm. By citing that the center has keenly been monitoring the development, Balachandran said that the cyclone could bring more rains for two days in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The announcement from the weather watchdog has come a day after Cyclone Nivar had made landfall in Puducherry and in the northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. Nivar made landfall in the wee hours of Thursday and it has brought extremely heavy rainfall in Cuddalore, Vellore, Villupuram, Chennai, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpet.

Cyclone Nivar had disrupted normal lives in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as the heavy rainfall had inundated Chennai and several northern districts of Tamil Nadu. The state government had said that the cyclone had claimed three lives and destroyed hundreds of residences. Nivar had uprooted more than 1,000 trees combined in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. The reports say Nivar has left Chennai with an excess of 36% rain for the current northeast monsoon season so far.
