After 24 hours of the incident, the concerned police department had arrested truck driver Murugan and the traffic police authorities had booked him under the grounds of rash driving and causing grievous hurt. The reports say that the police department of Peelamadu has cited that the necessary permissions were procured before erecting the flagpoles in Avinashi road. In December 2018, the Madras High court had directed the provisions and regulations while erecting the flagpoles in Tamil Nadu.
The order prohibits the erections of flagpoles by the political parties and by the organization without the mandatory license or the consent of the government. In March this year, the court had imposed more responsibilities to the local bodies in the state to ban the erections of flagpoles on the roads.
