Amid the Coronavirus outbreak and the economical crisis triggered by the pandemic, the Central ruling BJP party has been planning to hold a big and month-long campaign to mark the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi's government, which came to power for the second consecutive term on May 30, 2019.
The saffron party is aiming to make it big in the albeit of escalating challenges over tackling the spread. The party would be holding a month-long campaign starting from June and in the wake of the pandemic, the BJP would be relying on the digital rallies this time across the country to exemplify Modi's first year.
According to BJP's General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav, the party will be unfolding the digital rallies in all the districts for the entire month of June. Highlighting the party's work in the fight against the COVID-19, the leader said that the workers had distributed over 19 crore food packets and more than 4 crore packets of ration across the country for the affected people.
Yadav further claimed that the party members in all 909 organizational districts in the country have been serving the people by providing them with the essential and relief measures. Apart from distributing food, the party members had also provided more than 5 crore masks, they campaigned for the Aarogya Setu app and motivated them to donate for the PM Cares fund, which is the funding channel for the Indian government in its fight against the pandemic.
Yadav stated that all the seven wings in the party will be conducting 500 digital rallies in their fields and along with that, BJP National President JP Nadda will be addressing the party workers through Facebook Live. On the completion of the first year, the party is planning to reach out people and to distribute them with the letter written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the achievements of his government and his vision of making India a self-reliant country.
While carrying out the digital rallies, the party members would also be distributing Modi's letter to at least ten crore families. According to the reports, the Modi government's response to the COVID-19 crisis, economic packages, and relief efforts would be some of the larger players that expected to be decorating the digital rallies.
Apart from the district level rallies, the senior leaders from the states and Center would be holding about a thousand virtual conferences with the duration of one hour each and these conferences would be hosting the address of the leaders and interactions. The party would also be conducting 150 press conferences in a week across the nation as the ruling party is aiming to make the first anniversary big when the government is yet to cement the trajectory to uplift the economy and to resuscitate the ailing people.
Looking back, Narendra Modi's first year in his second term was and has been going through the ordeals. While the second half went through the outbreak, the first half had seen the passage of the handicapped Citizenship Amendment Act, government's attempt of implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC), and National Population Register (NPR), and the protests, agitations across the country aftermath passing the acts of what the opposition parties claimed that the BJP is upholding and disseminating its Hindutva propaganda.
