Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been surfaced with fresh trouble after the Hindu leaders flayed him for what they claimed that he had hurt Hindu sentiments and the BJP leaders had gone to the extent of filing complaints against the senior Bachchan over the question, which directed the outrage.
The issue pertained to the question that the megastar asked in Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Indian television game show, which has been hosted by the actor. The latest episode had social activist Bezwada Wilson and actor Anup Soni in the hot seat opposite Bachchan and the question for the cash prize of Rs 6.40 lakh was asked by the megastar.
The question asked by Amitabh Bachchan was, "On 25th December 1927, Dr. BR Ambedkar and his followers burned copies of which scripture? The choices were - Vishnu Purana, Bhagavad Gita, Rigved, and Manusmriti. The right answer was Manusmriti and Bachchan said, "In 1927, Ambedkar condemned the incident Hindu text Manusmriti to ideologically justify caste discrimination and untouchability and burned its copies".
Manusmriti is the ancient Hindu book of law and it has been considered as the code of conduct by the Hindu religion. After the episode was aired, Amitabh Bachchan couldn't have expected that it would stir national outrage as following the question of highlighting Manusmriti as caste discrimination, many right-wing members had roared against the megastar and against the makers of the game show.
Many tweeple had taken to Twitter and said it was not expected from Bachchan and others called the question disrespectful for the Indian culture, and many had demanded to boycott Bachchan and the show. On Monday, the hashtag of #BoycottKBC was trending on Twitter, which exemplified the scale of outrage across the nation. On the other hand, some people had come in favor of the actor and defended him by stating that the question was simply about the incident recorded in history.
According to reports, on Tuesday, a day after the call for boycott, the FIR has been filed against Amitabh Bachchan and the makers in Lucknow under the grounds of hurting Hindu sentiments. Some reports say that BJP MLA Abhimanyu Pawar from Maharashtra had on Tuesday approached police seeking action against Bachchan and makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati 12.
Pawar, the BJP MLA from Ausa in Latur district of Maharashtra, had moved his complaint to Latur SP Nikhil Pingle in which the legislator demanded the police to take action against the megastar. Taking to Twitter, Pawar had shared his complaint and said, "There was an attempt to insult Hindus and create discord between Hindus and Buddhists who have been living in harmony".
Pawar claimed that all the four options given by Amitabh Bachchan were related to the Hindu religion and the BJP MLA said that it's clear that the motive behind this question was to hurt sentiments of Hindus. Pawar was a close aide of Devendra Fadnavis when the latter was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The legislator said that the question spreads the message that Hindu religious scripture is meant for burning and sparks enmity between Hindus and the followers of Buddhism. Along with the BJP leader, the right-wing followers claimed that the show has been running leftist propaganda.
