Finally, the update that we expected from Ponniyin Selvan is here...Fans on head over heels!

In the midst of unveiling the posters of iconic characters in the movie Ponniyin Selvan, the movie team has on Thursday - July 7 rolled out a big update that the fans have been waiting for. Yes, the update about the movie's teaser is finally here and it has put the fans head over heels. Speculations were rife for the past few days over the release of the teaser of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. 

Under the clouds of such speculations that the teaser would be released either on July 7 or on July 8, the audience waited with bated breath on whether or not to believe the buzz. The movie team has on Thursday broken its silence and released a storming update that made the titbit true.  As per the official statement, the teaser of 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' will be released on July 8- Friday. 

The teaser launch event will kickstart around 6 pm on July 8 at the Chennai Trade Centre. In its official statement concerning the teaser launch, Madras Talkies, the co-producer of the movie, said, "Dear Friends from the Press and the Media, We warmly invite you to the teaser launch of our film 'Ponniyin Selvan' Part-1 on 8th July 2022. We would be delighted to have your support when we bring out the first visuals of our film." 

'Ponniyin Selvan' part-1 is slated for a worldwide release on September 30, 2022, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The magnum opus directed by Mani Ratnam is based on Kalki's eponymous Tamil novel that was serialized in the 1950s and has remained a sensational success ever since. An adventure ride set in the 10th century, 'Ponniyin Selvan tracks the factional power struggles within the Chola empire, with the enemies of the state acting as catalysts.

The story is set in the tumultuous period before Arunmozhi Varman, later known as Raja Raja Chozhan became one of the greatest emperors in Indian history ushering in a Golden Age. Adding to this marvellous piece of news, Lyca Productions has implied that the teaser will have a grand launch. The teaser of the movie's Hindi version would be released by legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

Taking to Twitter, Lyca Productions wrote, "Thank you, Amit Ji!." On the other hand, the teaser of the movie's Malayalam version will be launched by iconic Mohanlal. Sharing this humongous update, Lyca wrote, "Thank you, Lalettan." The movie has successfully brought an ensemble cast together which would turn into a significant concoction of our favourite stars. Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar, Nassar, and Balaji Sakthivel will play important roles.

Interestingly, AR Rahman composed the music while Kabilan and Venba Geethayan penned the lyrics for the songs and Jayamohan has written the dialogues. The shooting of the film has been completed and the final stages are underway after several changes. Since Monday- July 4, the movie team has been releasing the character posters and so far, it has revealed the posters of Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, and Trisha.
