The acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, who has won the hearts of Malayali audiences with his romantic and action movies, is all set to make his Malayalam directorial debut next year. The visionary director has revealed his keenness to venture into the Malayalam film industry, expressing his desire to work with the legendary actor Mammootty and the versatile star Fahadh Faasil.

In an interview with a media outlet, Gautham Vasudev Menon said that he is planning to direct a Malayalam movie next year and he is in discussion with a couple of actors. He also reportedly said that he really wants to work with Mammootty sir and also with Fahadh Faasil, who are among the finest actors in the industry. He added that he considers it a privilege to be part of such a reputed industry.

Gautham Vasudev Menon, who hails from Ottapalam in Kerala’s Palakkad district, has always maintained his connection with his Kerala roots, despite living in Chennai. He said that he used to visit his grandmother and aunts in Ottapalam every year during summer holidays and he learned how to speak Malayalam. He also said that he grew up watching a lot of Malayalam movies and he admires the quality of cinema in Kerala.

The ace filmmaker, who has also been actively taking up acting roles, has already appeared in three Malayalam films as well — Trance (2020), Lovefully Yours Veda (2023) and Anuragam (2023). He is currently working on director Deeno Dennis’ highly-anticipated Malayalam film Bazooka, starring Mammootty.

He shared his experience of working alongside the Malayalam megastar and said that they are shooting in sync sound, which is interesting and challenging. He also said that Mammootty sir was guiding him on how to handle live sound and how an actor should train this way.

With such an impressive fresh romantic ventures and a passion for cinema, Gautham Vasudev Menon is surely going to create magic on the big screen with his Malayalam directorial debut.
