Surya Vijay Sethupathi, the son of the versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi, is all set to make a splash in the Tamil film industry with his debut as a lead actor. The young talent will be seen in a yet-to-be-titled film directed by the renowned stunt choreographer Anal Arasu, who is also making his debut as a filmmaker.

The film, which is expected to be an action-packed entertainer, was officially announced on June 21, 2023 by Anal Arasu on his Twitter account. He posted a picture of himself with Surya and Vijay Sethupathi and wrote, “Happy to announce my directorial debut with Surya Vijay Sethupathi as the hero. Thanks to Vijay Sethupathi sir for trusting me and giving me this opportunity. Need your blessings and support.”

Surya is not new to the silver screen, as he had made a cameo appearance as the younger version of his father in the 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. He is also working with his father in the upcoming film Viduthalai Part 2, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran. Surya is said to play an important role in the film, which is based on a novel by Jeyamohan.

Surya’s debut film as a hero will be produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, which has bankrolled several hit films like Viswasam, Pattas and Laabam.  The film is expected to go on floors soon and will be shot in various locations across India.

The film will showcase Surya’s acting skills as well as his action prowess, as he will be trained by Anal Arasu himself. Anal Arasu is one of the most sought-after stunt directors in the industry, who has worked in films like Singam, Thuppakki, Kaththi, Theri and Master.

Vijay Sethupathi is on otherside having his Bolllywood venture, Merry Christmas, a film directed by Sriram Raghavan and co-starring Katrina Kaif, where he plays a mysterious character who crosses paths with a woman on Christmas Eve, and he also has Jawan, a film directed by Atlee and co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara,  VJS 51, a film directed by Arumugakumar, and Gandhi Talks.
