Suriya, one of Kollywood' s most bankable stars, is set to stun audiences in the upcoming Siva-directed magnum opus Kanguva. The film's title motion poster was unveiled on April 16, 2023, creating a huge buzz on social media.  The poster featured a regal-looking Suriya decked out in armor and astride a horse with a sword in his hand.

In an exciting turn of events, Bollywood actor Bobby Deol is all set to make his debut in Tamil cinema with Suriya's upcoming period drama action film, 'Kanguva.' Embracing the role of a menacing antagonist, Deol's entry into the Tamil film industry is anticipated to bring a new dynamic to the movie, leaving fans eager for his powerful performance.

According to sources close to the production, Bobby Deol was initially slated to make his debut in Pawan Kalyan's film 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu,' but the project was put on hold. However, fate had different plans as the 'Kanguva' team approached him with their intriguing narrative. Impressed by the storyline and a longstanding admiration for Suriya's work, Deol readily agreed to come on board. A source revealed, "Bobby sir really liked the narration and was immediately on board. He is a big admirer of Suriya and is really excited to work with him."

Though Deol's portion is yet to be filmed, his character promises to be a never-before-seen role, adding a layer of intensity to the storyline. Scheduled to commence shooting in November, Bobby Deol will be travelling between Mumbai and Chennai for the next month, dedicating ample time to both 'Kanguva' and his upcoming film 'Animal,' where he stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor.

In this fantasy adventure film Kanguva, Suriya plays a hero who has the power to manipulate fire. The actor will sport multiple looks in the film, ranging from a fierce warrior to a modern-day hero. The film also features Bollywood actress Disha Patani as the female lead, making her Tamil debut. The film also has Mrunal Thakur,  Yogi Babu, Kovai Sarala, Anand Babu and Redin Kingsley in key roles. 

Director Siva, who is known for his blockbuster films like Viswasam and Vedalam, said that Kanguva is a unique and memorable film-going experience that will enthral the audience. He said the film is set in a new world they created with extensive VFX and 3D effects. He also praised Suriya for his acting skills and dedication to the project.

The film's music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, who has delivered some chartbusters for Suriya and Siva's previous films like the Singam film franchise, and Veeram. The cinematography is by Vetri and the editing is by Nishad Yusuf.
