Engineering counseling in Tamil Nadu to begin at the end of June!

The engineering counseling in Tamil Nadu is likely to begin at the end of June as the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) has been preparing to roll out the platform for the engineering admissions in the state amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

The directorate aims to maintain the normal schedule to begin the counseling by June end and it has been initiating necessary arrangements for starting the admission process for what has been one of the major higher educations picked by the students in the state. The directorate's plan to keep up the normal schedule has come after the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has said that the engineering admissions must start in August.

According to the reports, the DOTE, which conducts the online engineering counseling since 2018 after succeeding the responsibility from Anna University, will be deploying over 500 people to involve in the counseling process and the team has been equipped with more academicians and experts with the view of efficiently handling the counseling process.

The DOTE will be installing more information centers in the districts and these centers will be stationed with the experienced staff to aid the students and the web portal has been made comfortable to the students to submit their details in the process of online registration.  The reports stated that the directorate has been planning to conduct the counseling at the Central Polytechnic College Auditorium at Taramani, Chennai.

The state higher education department and the DOTE authorities would be holding a meet post lockdown to fix the official date for beginning the engineering counseling. The board exam results of class 12 students in the state would likely be published in June following which the counseling would begin so that the students can go ahead with the counseling based on their marks they obtained in class 12 board exam.

The academic corridors had seen closures of the educational institutions and postponements of the national and state-level exams in the wake of the nationwide lockdown that has been imposed by the Central government to fight against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. Earlier this week, the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has issued the revised exam dates for the medical and engineering entrance exams.
