End of an era: Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has passed away!

Legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has passed away on Friday in Chennai at the age of 74 due to the COVID-19 related complications, nearly after fifty days of hospitalization. The battle for his survival has come to an end after he breathed his last at 1.04 pm on Friday, leaving his millions of fans and fraternities into a deep and endless shock and grieving pain. 

The unexpected demise of the phenomenon had come a day after the hospital said that his health condition had deteriorated in the last 24 hours. The 74-years-old singer was admitted to MGM Healthcare hospital on August 5 after he was tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection. While he said he would be discharged in two days, his health had attained a setback on August 14 following which he was moved to the ICU and put under the support of the ventilator. 

Though he had shown signs of recovery during the course of treatment, he never left the hospital. His son SP Charan had earlier said that the singer has been responding to the treatment and expressed hope of a complete recovery. However, on September 24, his health worsened further, and was placed under an extremely critical state. While the news had shocked his fans, they had extended their prayers and wishes for the singer's speedy recovery. 

However, he hasn't responded and his health remained unchanged for the past 24 hours. The legendary singer, who has been renowned for singing over 40,000 songs in 16 languages with his sweet and intimate voice with the distinct quality, had breathed his last at 1.04 pm in Chennai at the age of 74. Though he won the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic after he tested negative, the complications and lung ailments had put him under the interminable sleep. 

Bringing the question of what a deadly year 2020 has been so far, his demise had brought in a huge void as he has been a precious asset to the lives that he touched throughout his career that spanned for over five decades. 

Etching his career strongly that would stand high for many more decades, SPB was a magnet who attracted pure love and true respect from millions for whom the singer has become a household name. From the 1960s to the current era, SPB's face and voice had ruled the music world, which has now gone dark after the shining star had stopped shining and breathing. 

When he was hospitalized, millions had extended their prayers and wishes for the speedy recovery. While the hospital said that the singer was extremely critical and under maximum life support, many celebrities prayed to have him back. However, SPB's son SP Charan shared the news of his demise. He said that his father had passed away at 1.04 pm and he also thanked everyone for offering their prayers for his recovery and doctors, hospital staff for their restless efforts of saving him. 

Condolences have been pouring in from across and beyond the state. Many leaders and celebrities had paid their obituary and his mortal remains would be taken to his home at 4 pm on Friday and would be kept for the public to pay homage.
