The much-awaited sci-fi epic ‘Project K’ has finally revealed its official title and first glimpse at the San Diego Comic Con 2023, making it the first Indian film to debut at the prestigious event. The film, directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, is now called ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.

The title suggests that the film is based on the Hindu mythology of Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of Lord Vishnu, who is prophesied to end the Kali Yuga and usher in a new era of peace and harmony. The first glimpse of the film, which was unveiled by Prabhas and Kamal Haasan at the event, shows a dystopian world in the year 2898, where humanity is oppressed by a dark and powerful regime.

The teaser opens with a hooking line reads, “When the world is taken over by darkness, a force will arise. The end begins now.” In the mesmerizing teaser, the silver screen comes alive with a riveting apocalypse set starring enigmatic Deepika Padukone as a determined army recruit and the fearless Prabhas as a valiant warrior leading a rebellion against oppression.

The absence of legendary icons Kamal Hassan and Amitabh Bachchan only adds to the intrigue, but a mysterious figure concealed in bandages leaves us guessing if it's an iconic Bollywood star in disguise. And the final epic handshake among the stars, reminiscent of the great Ulaganayagan himself.

The film, which is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies on a massive budget of Rs 600 crore, making it the most expensive Indian movie ever, is expected to release on January 12, 2024. The film also features Disha Patani, Dulquer Salmaan, Naveen Singh, Rana Daggubati,Gaurav Chopra Kamal Sadanah, and Pasupathy an important role. The film is simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi, and will be dubbed in other languages as well. The film has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Djordje Stojiljkovic and editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.
