'Electoral encroachments on cashing the votes'- EC demands report!

Amidst the proven grounds of cash for vote in Nanguneri constituency in Tamil Nadu which goes for by-elections on October 21st, the state chief electoral office Satyabrata Sahoo had sought the report from the the district collector of Tirunelveli and the district superintendent of the police on the allegations of distributing money for the voters. 

The decision from the state election commission had come after DMK's party MLA and party cadres were booked under the charges of having unaccounted cash in their residence that was identified as money that was packed to distribute the voters for attaining the votes in Nanguneri by-elections. The allegations had come to spotlight after the local villagers, who had decided to boycott the elections, stormed into the house of DMK cadre following which they had seized about the package of 2.78 lakh with Rs 2000 currency notes and further informed to the electoral flying squad where they had recovered the cash and filed a legal case against DMK MLA and party cadres.

Since the by-election date nears, the electoral body had received complaints on the possible grounds of cash for vote policy that was allegedly attempted by the state's top parties. Speaking to the reporters in Chennai, Satyabrata Sahoo had said that the department had asked for the reports and developments on cashing the votes from the collector and superintendent of police where he added that the income tax department has been probing the case separately which will send a report to the Election commission on the basis of unaccounted cash.

He cited that there are about 275 booths in Vikravandi while Nanguneri accounts for 299 booths and with the view of regulating the parameters, these booths will be installed by the web cameras to monitor the on ground developments and claimed that in the final electoral roll, booth slips for the voters in both the constituencies have been distributed . He further urged the representatives of all parties who don't belong to the constituencies should leave by 5 pm on Saturday when the last leg of campaigning comes to the conclusion.

Earlier in the day, with accord to the complaint filed by the authorities of Flying squad, the police department had booked DMK MLA and six other party men under the conspiracy and allegations of distributing cash to the voters.
