ADMK's joint coordinator and Tamil Nadu Opposition Leader Edappadi Palaniswami is all set to unfold a big meet on Wednesday for the first time since he became the Opposition Leader. According to reports, he will be meeting the newly-sworn in Governor of Tamil Nadu RN Ravi on Wednesday and it is the first time for both of them to have a private meet since taking their respective offices.
Edappadi Palaniswami would be meeting the Governor in Raj Bhavan at around 11 am on Wednesday during which he would be holding talks with the head of the state as the opposition leader. It has been reported that Palaniswami will petition the Governor against the ruling DMK regime and would demand action for the party's earlier petition.
As the meet would be unfolded amid growing troubles for the ADMK, it has drawn more attention from across the state. Edappadi Palaniswami aims to throw more weight on the opposition's agenda of opposing the DMK government. Recently, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai, along with a group of senior leaders, had met Governor RN Ravi and submitted a petition to him in which the Central ruling party has claimed that the law and order in Tamil Nadu isn't been proper under the DMK rule.
Union Minister of State L Murugan had also met the Governor, who has been alleged to have come to Tamil Nadu with an assignment from Prime Minister Modi to monitor the DMK rule and to surveil the actions and activities of DMK Ministers. Our sources say that Edappadi Palaniswami will also talk about the bills passed by the DMK government in the state and would appeal to the Governor to take action on the petition tabled by the ADMK to his predecessor.
In the recently-held assembly session, the ADMK had walked out of the assembly after the DMK had begun the investigation into the 2017 Kodanad heist and murder case in which Edappadi Palaniswami has been accused of. Slamming the DMK for opening up the investigation, the ADMK MLAs had boycotted the assembly and held a protest in front of the assembly premises. Following the protests, the ADMK leaders including Edappadi Palaniswami had met the then Governor Banwarilal Purohit and gave a petition against the DMK rule.
Besides this, it has been expected that Edappadi Palaniswami will urge the Governor to intervene in the matter of raids that the DMK throw against the ADMK leaders. On Monday, the Tamil Nadu government's anti-corruption agency, DVAC, has raided the properties of former ADMK Minister C Vijayabaskar and booked a disappropriate assets case under the grounds of amassing more wealth than his income sources.
C Vijayabaskar is the fourth former ADMK Minister to face raids after MR Vijayabaskar, SP Velumani, and KC Veeramani. Slamming the raids, the ADMK has been calling such searches a political vendetta against the party. It has been reported that Edappadi Palaniswami will be handing over the petition to the Governor against such raids and to take action towards stemming political vendetta.
