'Don't insult me': Mamata Banerjee burst with anger in the presence of PM Modi! Check what happened

Amid the escalating political tussle between the state ruling and Central ruling parties ahead of the assembly polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had publicly roared against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same stage that they both shared on Saturday at Kolkata's Victoria Memorial at the event of honoring legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his 124th birth anniversary.

The anniversary had brought the ever heated rivals together on stage but eventually, it ended with the uproar from the West Bengal Chief Minister, who cut short her speech and shocked the Prime Minister. According to reports, when Mamata Banerjee took the podium to address the event, she was interrupted with chants of 'Jai Shri Ram'. After hearing the chants, she had apparently burst out with anger, and to show her outrage, she left the podium by cutting short her speech.

Before cutting short her speech, Mamata said, "Don't insult me after calling me here. This is not a political programme. If you invite someone to a government programme, you should not insult them". The visuals from the venue had shown that the crowd was shouting before she began to speak and the organizers had appealed to them to stay calm. Mamata Banerjee had urged the crowd to display some dignity and thanked the Prime Minister for attending the event.

After Mamata left the podium, Prime Minister Modi came to address and he began his address by referring to Mamata Banerjee and West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar following which he spoke about Nethaji and his contribution.

Though his address was covered widely, Mamata's anger has got major attention across the nation. The development has come when Mamata's Trinamool Congress and BJP are clashing each other for the upcoming assembly elections.

Accusing Mamata of her action, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya had said that Mamata Banerjee had insulted the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore. Taking to Twitter, Malviya said, "Mamata Banerjee insulted the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore by refusing to attend Viswa Bharati’s centenary celebrations. She has done the same by not delivering her speech on the occasion of Netaji’s anniversary celebrations. Bengal will not tolerate this disregard of its icons."

In a video, Mamata can be seen cutting short her speech by saying, "I'm not saying anything. Jaikind. Jaikind". Hitting back at Malviya on his remarks, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien took to Twitter and explained the synonym of dignity and released a video of what happened. He wrote, "dignity (noun) The state or quality of being worthy of honor and respect. You can’t teach ‘dignity’. Nor can you teach lumpens to be dignified. Here is a one-min video of what exactly happened today. Including the dignified response by
@MamataOfficial".
