While the nationwide lockdown had toppled the dreams of the movie lovers by closing the cinema halls and theaters across the country, it also has seeded the transformation of the OTT platforms as most of the people, who are confined in their homes, have been turned out to be binge-watchers as these OTT platforms have taken their favorite celebrities to their home by easing their confinement.
Unlike in recent years, the Over-the-top (OTT) services and online streaming applications have earned a huge base in India during the lockdown period as most of the confined had either taken the prospect for exploring the digital platforms or for relishing their favorite stars from their homes. The applications like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hotstar had seen a huge spike in its users.
Recent studies have shown that the demand for these applications among Indians had grown unprecedently. Since people are restricted to hop out from their residences unnecessarily and since having left with no clear idea on when the theaters will resume, the movie-makers have decided to cope up with the current trend.
A handful of film producers have decided to take their movies directly to home through the OTT platforms as the movie lovers can't come to the theaters. So if you have Amazon Prime, these movies will reach you in the coming days. Pointing at the production house, INOX said that it's disturbing to see one of the partners not interested in continuing the mutual relationship.
While these five films were given the conformity on the release dates, movies like Sufiyum Sujatayum (Malayalam) - starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Jayasurya, and Shakuntala Devi (Hindi)- starring Vidya Balan will be releasing on the Amazon Prime.
