DMK's new plan to counter ADMK - What's it and will it work out?

With the view of countering what it has claimed as the false accusations on the party members by the ruling ADMK party, DMK has decided to reinforce the party's legal wing in all the districts across the state to expose the ruling party's corruption and put forth before the people to voice against the ADMK as the opposition party has also been preparing for the 2021 legislative elections.

The decision of lighting up the legal wing has been taken when party's president MK Stalin had convened a virtual meet with the MLAs, MPs, and district secretaries of the party on Sunday to discuss the state government's approach towards the opposition party on filing false cases against the party members in the wake of the arrest of senior leader RS Bharathi on Saturday.

The party stated that, apart from exposing ADMK's corruption in every district, the legal wing has also been advised to aid the DMK party members and functionaries whenever they are arrested under the cases filed by the ADMK government. According to the reports, the virtual meeting has condemned the state government on its actions to arrest DMK Rajya Sabha MP Bharathi, who has been filing complaints against the senior minister for corruption.

The state opposition party further claimed that the ADMK party has been targeting the DMK members by filing multiple cases and arresting under various sections as the ruling party can't able to tolerate the people-oriented works carried out the opposition party to provide the relief materials to the affected people in the state in the wake of the lockdown. While condemning the ruling party, DMK leadership has also advised the party members to be careful while addressing the media, public, and party meetings.

The virtual meet has come a day after the Chennai police had filed a case and arrested Bharathi. The Chennai police had arrested the DMK leader on Saturday morning with accord to the complaint filed against him for reportedly making offensive and derogatory statements against the judges and Dalits while he was speaking at the event that held on February 15th at the DMK's Youth Wing Headquarters in Chennai.

An FIR was lodged against Bharathi under the grounds of the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Bharathi was then produced before Justice Selvakumar of Egmore court and after the hearing, the Justice had given the DMK leader with the interim bail and barred the police department to arrest the leader till June 1st.
