In what has become a piece of news that turned heads, the daughter of a DMK Minister has approached the Bengaluru police seeking protection from her father to her and to her husband. The development has become the talk of the town and sparked questions about whether the minister is threatening her daughter, who married against his wish. 

According to reports, Jayakalyani, the daughter of PK Sekar Babu, who is one of the powerful ministers in the DMK government, has on Monday - March 7 approached the Bengaluru police and has sought protection for her and her husband. She has met Bengaluru police commissioner Kamal Pant and submitted a memorandum to him. 

Speaking to the media persons, Jayakalyani said that she was in a relationship with Satish Kumar for the past six years and she had married him now with his consent. She alleged that her parents had objected to her love towards Sathish Kumar and said, "When I attempted to get married to him two months ago, the police had arrested him and took him into custody for two months." 

She further said, "I suspect my father's role behind this and I am an adult. We both love each other and have got married. We were given death threats if we return to Tamil Nadu. So, we have approached the Bengaluru Police Commissioner seeking protection." She had demanded her father, minister PK Sekar Babu, that Sathish Kumar's family should not face any threats or be affected by their decision of marriage.

Speaking to IANS, Activist Bharath Shetty said that the couple had approached them on social media seeking help to get married. Shetty said, "We organized a marriage ceremony as per Hindu tradition. They have been given life threats from the girl's family and hence they are requesting security by the Bengaluru police." 

It is pertinent to note that the couple was trying to get married in September last year. During that time, Satish Kumar had released a video where he said that he and Jayakalyani were in a relationship for six years. He stated that her family came to know about their relationship in January 2021 after which they didn't speak for some time.

Later, the couple had started talking again. Satish Kumar further stated that the couple had eloped together from Chennai in August and his family was under threat from Sekar Babu. He also had appealed to Chief Minister MK Stalin, seeking his help to marry Jayakalyani.
