DMK leader was brutally murdered...Police launch a probe! Here's what happened

In a shocking development, a DMK leader in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu was murdered in the night hours on Thursday. The local police department had launched the probe into his death and initiated a manhunt to detain the assailants. 

According to reports, 38-year-old Selladurai, who was a native of North Ariyanayagipuram in Tirunelveli, was serving as the youth wing secretary of DMK in Tirunelveli East district. He had enmity with 45-year-old Ayyappan who belongs to Pathalmedu in the same district.  They had enmity due to the dispute over a piece of land. As he was threatened by Ayyappan, Selladurai had appointed a group of people for his safety. 

On Thursday night, Selladurai had gone to his poultry farm in his two-wheeler. As he was alone on his farm, he was surrounded by unknown assailants and in minutes' times, they had brutally murdered him using sickles. They had slit his throat and back before fleeing the spot. Selladurai stumbled there and was covered with full of blood. 

After the incident came to light, Selladurai was rushed to the hospital but he was declared brought dead. Tirunelveli Police Superintendent Manivannan and DSP of Cheranmahadevi zone Pradeep had recovered Selladurai's body and sent for the autopsy to Palayamkottai Government Hospital. According to reports, the Superintendent had directed to launch the probe into the death of Selladurai.

The Mukkudal police department has filed a case and the preliminary investigation revealed that the murder has occurred due to a land dispute following which the police had launched a manhunt to arrest Ayyapan and the assailants behind the murder. Selladurai was surviving by his wife Prema and two children. After the news of demise shocked the party members, several DMK leaders including Poongothai Aladi Aruna, who is the DMK MLA from Alangulam, had paid their last respects to Selladurai and expressed their condolences to the family members.
