DMK councillor is apprehended for beating a soldier to death: Here's what happened!

A DMK councillor and five others were apprehended by the Tamil Nadu police for beating a soldier to death in the Krishnagiri district. The arrest was made on Wednesday and a case under the grounds of murder was registered against the assailants. 

The incident was happened on February 8 where an Indian Army Soldier 29-year-old Prabhu was brutally beaten up by DMK councillor Chinnasamy and his men. Prabhu was a Lance Naik in the military police and he had returned to his village, Velampatti in Krishnagiri with his brother Prabhakaran, who is also serving in the military. 

On February 8, Prabhakaran and DMK councillor Chinnasamy had an argument that later culminated into a melee and when Prabhu intervened, he was brutally beaten up by the DMK councillor and his men. It has been reported that an argument broke out between Prabhakaran and Chinnasamy over the drinking water pipe in the village. 

Chinnasamy argued with Prabhakaran for using the drinking water to wash his clothes. Later that evening, Chinnasamy again argued with Prabhakaran with the same matter after which the argument had escalated to physical altercation. Chinnasamy and his three sons - Gurukrishnamurthy, Gunanithi, and Rajapandian attacked Prabhakaran and Prabhu with weapons and with a knife. 

As a result of the altercation, Prabhu had sustained severe injuries and he was rushed to a private hospital in Hosur. While Prabhakaran had also suffered injuries, Prabhu's condition was critical and amid the treatments, Prabhu had died on Tuesday evening, February 14 at the hospital as he succumbed to the injuries. Prabhu's brother Prabhakaran and three others who sustained injuries are getting treated at the hospital.

Following Prabhu's death, a case of murder was registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. After filing the case, the police had arrested DMK councillor Chinnasamy, his three sons, and two others on Wednesday in connection to Prabhu's murder. The death of the military officer has sparked a political turmoil in the state with Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai announcing a statewide protest on Thursday. 

Taking to Twitter, Annamalai wrote, "I was shocked when I heard the news that a 29-year-old army soldier Prabhu was beaten to death by a DMK municipal councillor near Bochampalli in Krishnagiri district. Soldiers are not safe in their hometown due to DMK anarchy." In a series of tweets, Annamalai said, "As a mark of respect to the Army man Thiru Prabhu who was beaten to death by a DMK councillor, members of BJP Tamil Nadu Ex-Servicemen wing wearing their Badge & Cap will protest against the DMK govt for this cruel disrespect to our Indian Army." 

"The protest tomorrow will be carried out by the members of BJP Tamil Nadu Ex-Servicemen wing in their respective district collectorate. Ex-Servicemen wing President Lt. Col. Raman will pay homage to Thiru Prabhu on behalf of BJP Tamil Nadu. I invite all the Ex-Servicemen to join me for a protest from the war memorial in the next few days against the DMK party for the appalling state of governance making the state unsafe for even Army men", Annamalai added.
