At a high time when the DMDK party and its supporters are hoping for the revival before the 2021 state legislative elections and the return of its leader Vijayakanth to politics, the recent cartoon posted by DMDK leader LK Sudhish had seemingly invited a barrier before the party's revival path after what he claimed to capture the different approach had boomeranged against him with strong criticisms and controversies.
LK Sudhish is the brother-in-law of Vijayakanth and on Wednesday, he posted the cartoon that was published by a Tamil newspaper in 2016. The newspaper had published the cartoon on the Facebook Timeline of Sudhish in 2016 and the cartoon depicted Vijayakanth as the centric leader. It had shown the DMDK president was surrounded by the leaders of other parties and they were seen falling on Vijayakanth's feet while the latter can be seen thinking with the folded hands.
The cartoon had shown a leader in a white shirt and with a yellow towel which had symbolized former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK Stalwart Karunanidhi. Soon after the cartoon, that depicted Karunanidhi falling on the feet of Vijayakanth, was published by Sudhish, it stirred deep controversy and received criticism from the DMK and also the DMDK parties.
Following the controversy, Sudhish removed the post. The DMDK leader had issued his explanation on the post in which he said that he posted the cartoon published by the Tamil Newspaper in 2016. He stated that he posted the cartoon in the social media with the view of letting the people of Tamil Nadu know and for their understanding of the difference of approach in the cartoon published by the newspaper in 2016 and now.
According to the reports, Sudhish has referred to the recently published cartoon by the newspaper in which it had depicted that the DMDK leader Premalatha Vijayakanth was auctioning the party while Vijayakanth was seen sitting on the party's logo. The caption on the recent cartoon had quoted Premalatha saying that there is a chance that DMDK will be competing alone - in the upcoming legislative elections and the caption indicating Premalatha said as she is saying that the auctioning for the 2021 elections begin.
Though Sudhish had removed the post and offered the explanation on the post, he had received massive flak from the social media which has gone against the party when it has been preparing for the elections.
Currently, DMDK is in alliance with the ruling ADMK party and recently, Premalatha had said that the party would be contesting alone in the upcoming assembly polls, which the party says typically for every election. In its recent history, the party had asserted that it would be contesting alone and would end up merging with the Dravidian parties and form an alliance. Recently, Premelatha said that Vijayakanth would be coming to the campaign and added that the party wants Vijayakanth to be the king in the 2021 state legislative elections.
