The Tamil Nadu state government on Friday - September 2 announced the state film awards for the best movies, best male and female actors, villains, music directors, and directors for the years 2009 to 2014. Besides the film awards, the list also carried the best TV soap operas during the same time. These awards will be presented on Sunday - September 4.
Tamil Nadu State Film Awards are given out annually by the Tamil Nadu government to honour the best actors and to encourage and support the film industry. The awards were given since 1967 and they are given in four different categories - creative, technical, special, and retired. Among other highly regarded films, Kumki, Kutram Kadithal, and Kaaka Muttai were selected for the awards.
The topmost film producer will each receive Rs. 2 lakh, the producer at the second spot will receive Rs. 1 lakh, followed by Rs. 75,000 for the third best producer. The best films will also receive Rs. 75,000, according to a press release from the Tamil Nadu government. Producers and movies will each receive a total of Rs 26.25 lakh. Each of the top actors and technicians will receive a five sovereign gold medal, and 160 people will receive medals overall. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and the winners will be honoured.
