Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation, who commonly known as 'Sadhguru' has been caught with heated allegations by releasing a video about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in which the yogi speaks about the what was criticized as the controversial act across the country and the video that lasted for about 22 minutes was shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who termed the statement of Sadhguru as a 'lucid explanation' and Modi, seemingly with the view of picturing everyone who backs the CAA in middle of the huge agitations, said that the yogi has provided a historical context and highlights our culture of brotherhood.
By tweeting the video of Sadhguru with the hashtag of #IndiaSupportsCAA, Modi said that the yogi calls out the misinformation by vested interest groups. However, in his video Sadhguru, despite claiming that he didn't read the act fully, blamed the students and literates for not reading the act. He stated that 'I've not read the Act fully, I only know it from the newspapers and whatever else is generally out there' and added that 'how come the students can't read the damn act'.
Through responding to the question raised by a devotee from Lucknow, the Yogi stated that 'Its really sad that no one reads the act and everyone follows the rumors. He blamed the students of the premier institutions for protesting against the CAA without studying the act and added that WhatsApp has become their source of knowledge.
He claimed that the religious groups were misinformed that the local Indian Muslims will lose their citizenship and the agitators have been sending the message that the law discriminates the minorities and the government will throw them out of the country and called the students that they are behaving like illiterate people.
Soon after he aired the video of lecturing the students to read the act despite he admitted that he hasn't read the act fully, many took the social media and called the video as a revelation of Sadhguru's hypocrisy and some of the Indian news channels had even done a fact-check on Sadhguru on his earlier claims and statements.
