Cyclone 'Maha' to shower heavy rainfall in Southern Tamil Nadu!

The state of Tamil Nadu has been preparing to witness more downpour for the next 48 hours as Cyclone Maha ,which was formed over Lakshadweep island , has been predicted to hit the coastal areas of Arabian Sea which will shower the western states like Karnataka, Kerala and most of the Southern districts of Tamil Nadu.

The predictions issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday had pictured the possibilities of light to moderate rainfall at most of the areas in the path of the Cyclone while the remote and isolated areas of Kerala, Lakshadweep, Karnataka and Southern Tamil Nadu are expected to get heavy, very heavy and extreme rainfalls for the next two days where Lakshadweep was reported to host extreme heavy rainfall today while heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to water the state of Kerala  as the pattern of the Cyclone would likely get intensified during its course.

While addressing the media, S Balachandran, the Deputy Director General at Regional Meteorological Center, Chennai said that all the southern districts and the districts in the Delta belt would come through heavy rainfalls during the cyclonic period and issued warnings for the fishermen in the respective coastal districts not to sail on the sea until further orders and developments.

It has been reported that the city of Chennai will most likely get minimal rainfalls in upcoming days while Tamil Nadu had showered with 196mm of rainfall in this year that had exceeded the average rainfall of 172.2mm. As Cyclone Maha has formed as very severe cyclonic storm, the Lakshadweep island was pronounced with red alert for Thursday as the island is likely to be inundated by the storm while Indian Meteorological Department had issued orange alert for Kerala's Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts and the reports say that Cyclone Maha will reach a wind speed of 150-160 kilometers per hour.
