With the tenacious resurgence and a strong message to the opponents, Dhoni's army has been preparing to lock horns with the Knight Riders on Wednesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and as both the teams are expecting their third victory in the series, today's match would no way be less than the scale of thrillers and excitement right from the start to the end. 

Dhoni is all set to pitch on the battle-field with the same winning momentum that was built by the comeback of openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis in the match against the Kings XI Punjab. When the CSK was desperate to revive back from the path of three consecutive defeats, the opening partnership of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis had presented a real roar of lions after they smashed the bowlers of Punjab and created history in IPL by becoming the highest run scoring opening partnership stand. 

The Aussie and the South African batsmen had led the team to the victory after they chased 179 runs in style and class. The CSK had won the match against the Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets and registered its second victory in the league. With building such strong momentum and record, Dhoni would likely go with the current team to take on the Kolkata Knight Riders for the first time in the league. However, KKR isn't a team that can be washed away quickly as it has been packed with the real talents and game-changers who can change the direction of the game.

Kolkata had started the league with the defeat against the Mumbai Indians, but they revived back by winning the next two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. Kolkata has played four matches so far of which it had won two matches and it stands at the fourth spot in the points table, one rank ahead of the Chennai Super Kings. 

While both the teams would be clashing for their third victory, the fans would be given the treat of real sporting moments and if CSK wins the match, it would be get placed in the top four teams, and if Dhoni's army tends to keep the momentum, it has a glittering prospect of entering the play-offs of the current season. On the other hand, KKR comes with hope from its squad which has some of the dangerous and experienced players like Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Nitish Rana, and Dinesh Karthik. 

On the bowling department, CSK weighs more than KKR as with the bowlers like Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, Piyush Chawla, Dwayne Bravo, and Shardul Thakur, the Super Kings has a capacity to restrict the opponents from putting more runs on board and when Punjab was trying to score above 200 runs, this bowling line-up had restricted the Kings XI under 200. With the opening partnership has come back to form, Dhoni would be taking on the Knight Riders with the same team and the same momentum.

The players that need to watch out for during the current match include Eoin Morgan, Shane Watson, Andre Russell, Faf du Plessis, and Shardul Thakur. You could possibly witness these milestones in the CSK vs KKR match - Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell need 10 and 52 runs respectively to complete 1000 and 1500 IPL runs. If Russell hits four fours during the match, he would be completing 1000 IPL fours. 

MS Dhoni is short of 51 runs to complete 4000 IPL runs for the Chennai Super Kings whereas Dinesh Karthik requires 53 runs to complete 1000 IPL runs as the captain. CSK's Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu require 79 and 37 runs respectively to complete 2000 and 1000 IPL runs for CSK.
