COVID-19: TN has tested 2 million samples as the cases soar across the state!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 4,965 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday which had taken the state's total tally beyond 1.80 lakh by reporting 1,80,643 cases so far including active, recovered, and deceased patients. 

According to the official press release issued by the state health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 20,35,645 samples so far including 51,066 that were tested on Tuesday of which 4,965 tested positive for the pandemic. These 4,965 cases include the influx of 78 people who returned to the state from other regions including the rest of India and abroad. 

 

Of these 4,965 cases, 3,010 are males and the rest 1,955 are female patients. According to the press release, 14 districts of the state had reported over a hundred cases in the current reporting. Chennai has reported 1,130 cases, 366 cases belong to Thiruvallur, 360 cases from Virudhunagar, 269 cases belong to Thoothukudi, 262 cases belong to Kancheepuram, 256 cases belong to Chengalpattu, 176 cases belong to Coimbatore, and Ranipet has reported 173 cases.

Thiruvannamalai has reported 163 cases, 160 cases belong to Vellore, Kanyakumari has reported 159 cases, 158 cases from Madurai, 131, and 127 cases from Theni and Trichy respectively. The state has reported 4,894 fresh discharges through which the state's total tally on discharge stands at 1,26,670 so far.

The state has reported 75 fresh deaths taking the death toll to 2,626. According to the press release, of these 75 deaths, 48 were reported from the government hospitals and the rest recorded from the private establishments. Of these 75 deaths, 21 belong to Chennai while the rest are recorded outside of the capital city. Out of 75 deaths, 69 deceased had identified with co-morbid conditions.  

With the current reporting of 1,130 cases, Chennai has recorded 88,377 total cases so far of which 85% of cases have been discharged. Chennai has also recorded 1475 deaths so far. At the current state, 19 districts in the state had crossed the tally of 2,000 cases of which five districts have crossed the tally of 5,000 COVID-19 cases amid the containment measures.

As of Tuesday, Tamil Nadu has reported 1,80,643 cases so far of which 51,344 are active, 1,26,670 have been recovered, and 2,626 had succumbed to the virus.
