COVID-19: Three Tamil Nadu doctors tested positive for the pandemic!

Amid the precautions and preventive measures initiated for the frontline workers in Tamil Nadu who are battling against the spread of Coronavirus in the state, three doctors have now been tested positive for the virus which has become an alarming development for the task force of the state that has been fighting to curb the spread of the virus.

According to the reports, three doctors were among 69 fresh cases that had reported on Tuesday taking the total number of affected cases in the state to 690. Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Beela Rajesh has issued the conformity in her daily briefing concerning the latest developments. While addressing the reporters on Tuesday, she said that all three doctors, including a railway doctor, had come into direct contact with the people who had tested positive for the virus after attending the Jamaat Conference in Delhi last month.

The health department stated that of three doctors, two belong to Kayalpattinam and Pitchivilai in Tuticorin district while the third one, who is the railway doctor, belongs to Kanyakumari. He has been identified as a 29-year-old medic and had come into direct contact with a 63-year-old person, who was the co-traveler of two Thailand nationals who were later tested positive, at the Erode Railway station.

On Tuesday, Tamil Nadu has reported 69 fresh cases tested positive for the virus and has also recorded one fatality making the death toll in the state stand at 7 so far. Of these 69 positive cases, 63 have been reported to have attended Tablighi Jamaat Conference in Delhi. Beela Rajesh further stated that a 64-year-old woman who was getting treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai has died due to the virus. The deceased had reported with co-morbid conditions including diabetes and hypertension and she has become the seventh fatality in the state succumbed to the pandemic. The deceased's source of infection is not yet confirmed and three family members have been kept under quarantine.

According to the reports, the state has been reporting with 65 to 70 cases in an average per day since March 31st. Most of the affected cases in the state had linked to the Jamaat Conference that was organized in Delhi last month. Of 690 positive cases, 636 have attended the conference. With the current count, Tamil Nadu is the second Indian state to have more positive cases after Maharashtra which had reported with 1018 so far.
