COVID-19: Tamil Nadu reports with six fresh cases putting the total to 35!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported with six new cases that were tested positive for the Coronavirus on Friday that had let the state to add the total count to 35 so far in its territory and these positive cases were reported when the state has marked its third day of the complete lockdown and curfew that have been imposed by the government to contain the spread of the virus.

According to the National Health Mission, Tamil Nadu, these six positive cases include, 

  • Two family members who came in contact with the Madurai patient who had died due to Coronavirus on Wednesday.
  • Two persons who came in contact with two patients (CN* 5 and 6) who were tested positive for the virus earlier in Erode. 
  • The fifth case had direct contact with the Chennai patient (CN14) who was tested positive for the pandemic and the patient has been admitted at Chennai.
  • The sixth case was a 25-year-old female who is the resident of Chennai has tested positive for the virus on Friday and she has been admitted to the Ariyalur Government Hospital and kept under isolation.

Although the state has been under lockdown, it has added nearly 22 positive cases in its count, including recent six, for the past three days after the human to human transmitting virus has been on the community spread as the risk intensifies amid the deployment of the preventive measures. On Wednesday, when the state marked its first day of the lockdown period, Tamil Nadu has witnessed the highest single-day rise in the cases as it has recorded eight positive cases for the virus.

 

Adding to that, a 54-year-old patient who was getting treated in Madurai has passed away due to the virus making the state to record its first fatality claimed by the pandemic and his two of his family members who had direct contact with him were tested positive for the virus on Friday. 

On Thursday, the state recorded three fresh cases in its territory and at the end of the day, the total number of cases stood at 29 and these cases either have different travel histories or came direct contact with the affected patients. Of the total 35 cases, the state currently has 33 active cases -one being recovered and the other patient had demised in Madurai and the rest of the active cases are getting treated under isolation across the state and these cases include Indian nationals as well as people from other countries. As of Friday, two Thail nationals have tested positive for the virus in the state had getting treated in Erode while four Indonesians are getting treated in Salem Medical college.

Most of the patients are under isolation at different government hospitals in Chennai and the six positive cases on Friday made the state to mark its second-highest single-day rise of the cases for the virus after Wednesday and the cases on Friday were mostly reported to have direct contact with the affected patients and the total numbers in the state have been surging each day amid the unprecedented lockdown and restrictions imposed by the state government to contain the spread of the contagion and on Thursday, the government has extended the curfew under section 144 until April 14th, 2020.

*CN - indicates the case number in the state and the numbers were given in the numerical order based on the conformity of being infected by the virus. Case numbers 5 and 6 were two Thailand nationals tested positive for the virus one after the other and getting treated in Erode.
