India has reported with 68 fatalities who had passed away due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) so far as of Saturday morning in its territory amid the unprecedented nationwide lockdown that has been imposed to mitigate the spread of the global pandemic. The second most populated country has been nearing to mark 3000 cases affected by the virus.
According to the official figures issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the nation currently has recorded with 2,902 positive cases including active, recovered, and deceased patients. The states of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan have reported with the increase in the death tolls that had contributed to add the nationwide death count. Of these 2,902 cases, 2,650 are active cases that have been getting treated for the virus across the country, 183 have been cured and discharged while 68 have succumbed to the pandemic.
The figures indicate the current developments as of Saturday morning as the nation has marked its tenth day of the three-weeks nationwide lockdown period. The Health Ministry's data revealed that the state of Maharashtra has reported with the most number of COVID-19 cases than any other Indian state. India's richest state currently has 423 positive cases including 42 recoveries and 19 deaths.
Following Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu has 411 cases including six recoveries and one death. Delhi has 386 cases with 8 recoveries and six deaths while Kerala reported with 295 cases with 41 recoveries and two deaths. The states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are nearing to mark 200 cases each in the respective territories. As far as the death toll is concerned, Maharashtra has reported with more deaths and the state's death toll currently stands at 19, followed by Gujarat 9, Telangana 7, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh have reported with six each.
In the last 12 hours, the country has added 355 cases tested positive to its total count. India is currently going through the nationwide lockdown that has imposed by the Central government to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in the country. The government has rolled out severe restrictions, suspended the transportation channels, and closed the international and interstate borders. The government has appealed to the people to stay at home during the lockdown and refrain from unnecessary travels.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed the nation during which he reiterated that the people must stand in solidarity in the fight against Coronavirus, which has been declared as the global pandemic. Modi has delivered a special message to the people. He appealed to everyone to turn off the lights in their houses and to stand on the balconies and doorways for nine minutes at 9 pm on April 5th and called the people to light a candle, torch, or the mobile phones to fight the darkness spread by the coronavirus with the light.
