COVID-19 in Chennai: City aims for Siddha treatment, to install more beds at the Siddha facility!

Following the recovery and discharge of 570 COVID-19 patients from the city's Siddha COVID-19 care center, the Greater Chennai Corporation has decided to install 1,000 additional bed facilities at the center with the view of providing Siddha treatments for the virus-hit patients in the city. 

According to the reports, the Siddha COVID-19 care center is located in Saligramam in Chennai and the center has reported the discharge of 569 patients including a 90-year-old nonagenarian who received treatments under Siddha and the after their discharge through Siddha treatment, the corporation has decided to put 1000 additional beds in the facility to treat more affected patients. 

Chennai Corporation Commissioner Prakash, who took part in the ceremony of sending off the recovered patients from the center, said that the Siddha treatments along with allopathy medicines have helped the patients to recover from the infection and he stated that corporation would be setting up additional beds at the care center.

The development from the corporation has come when the city's civic body has launched a mobile application to monitor the people who are under home quarantine. The application was launched on Friday and the virtual data would be containing the details of patients who are kept under home quarantine and information about their family members and their prescribed quarantine period. 

The app has come days after the corporation has deployed volunteers to aid the home quarantined people in providing them with the essential services and requirements. The volunteers under the name of FOCUS (Friends of COVID Citizens Under Surveillance) will also monitor the movement people and the containment areas. 

On Siddha treatment, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijayabaskar said that the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary has asked the health department to disclose the reports about the Siddha medicine. By citing that the health department is planning to roll out integrated treatment plans with Siddha, Ayurveda, yoga, and allopathy, the minister stated that the government has allowed the Coimbatore Arya Vaidya Salai Siddha doctors to treat the patients on trial basis with the Siddha medicine.
