Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar has on Tuesday winged multiple tweets through which he asserted that the state has no positive case of Coronavirus as the patient who earlier tested positive for the global pandemic has now tested negative. He remained under quarantine and was getting treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai.
He took to Twitter and stated that "Corona update: a good news for our state, the Pt undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi hospital is tested negative for Corona, this speedy recovery is possible only because of the meticulous treatment & expertise of Tamil Nadu Health department to handle exigencies. As of now, Tamil Nadu is CORONA FREE.
He further highlighted that "Corona update: Good Morning! All samples for COVID19 that were testing in-process y’day are confirmed CORONA NEGATIVE. There are no more pending samples at the labs. Tamil Nadu health department will continue all stringent measures to keep TN free from Coronavirus. In the other tweet, he added "Corona update: Let me share the good news, 8 samples that were in process for COVID19 is tested NEGATIVE. This includes 7 samples of close contacts of the Pt at Rajiv Gandhi hospital. This confirms there are NO new cases of Coronavirus in TN. Stringent screening continues."
The minister stated that 1,31,791 people have been screened so far and of these, 1,137 people who arrived in Tamil Nadu from the virus affected countries have been kept under home quarantine and they have been surveilled by the health department officials.

The reports say that Health Minister Vijayabaskar has been tabling review meetings with the health department officials and regularly monitoring the situations in the state after the state has reported with the first positive case of the epidemic. The samples that were tested negative include the wife of the 45-year-old man who tested positive earlier and a 15-year-old teenage boy who recently returned to Chennai from the United States.
The 45-year-old man who returned to the state from Oman was tested positive on March 7th and he was the first positive case in Tamil Nadu and he was quarantined and treated in the isolation ward of the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital. Vijayabaskar said that the patient is doing stable and discharged soon from the hospital. On the other hand, the global pandemic has been rapidly spreading across India. As on Wednesday, the country reported 62 positive cases and the states of Kerala, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have been accounted for 14 cases on Tuesday. The Kerala government has shut the schools, colleges, and cinemas till March 31st to contain the spread.
