In the middle of complete lockdown that has been enforced across Tamil Nadu to curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the state has reported with three fresh cases in the evening hours of Friday that were tested positive for the virus making the state to add the total number of affected cases to 38 so far in its territory.
With these three new cases, the state recorded nine fresh cases on Friday alone while the other six were reported hours before the reporting of three cases that had let the state to mark its highest-single day rise in numbers of cases surpassing the previous tally. Earlier on Wednesday, the state recorded eight positive cases making it a highest-single day rise.

According to the National Health Mission- Tamil Nadu, the three fresh cases include a 73-year-old female, a 61-year-old male who came in contact with Indonesian Nationals who were already tested positive, and a 39-year-old male from Anna Nagar Chennai. The mission stated that the 73-year-old has been treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital while 61-year-old is getting treated at the Salem Medical college, where the Indonesian nationals are admitted, and a 39-year-old has been admitted to Kilpauk Medical college hospital in Chennai. The mission asserted that the patients are kept in isolation and are doing stable.
The total affected cases have been increased to 38 as of Saturday morning. In the morning hours of Friday, the state reported with six cases - two each from Madurai, Erode, and Chennai and of these six, five have come through direct contact with already affected patients while one Chennai based woman wasn't identified to have any travel or contact history and she has been admitted to the Ariyalur Government hospital.

Although the state has been going through a complete lockdown and imposed a curfew to contain the spread of the virus, it has reported about 28 cases in the past few days making the numbers go high. However, the health department has issued good news on Friday as a 21-year-old male who was the second case in the state has been recovered. With issuing the conformity on the welcoming development, state health minister Vijayabaskar said that the 21-year-old man who traveled from Dublin, Ireland has completely recovered and discharged from Rajiv Gandhi hospital after two subsequent tests returned negative. He is the second man to get recovered from the virus in the state as earlier in March, a 45-year-old man from Kanchipuram had been recovered and discharged.
The Minister stated that he will be under home quarantine for the next two weeks. According to the reports, the state has screened 2,09,284 passengers so far at the Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore, and Madurai airports and 15,629 passengers have been kept under home quarantine till date. As of Saturday morning, the state has reported with 38 cases of which 35 are active while two have been recovered - including the Ireland return, and one has died due to the pandemic whereas rest are getting treated under isolation across various hospitals and these 35 include Indian nationals as well as foreign nationals - two Thailand nationals getting treated in Erode and four Indonesians getting treated in Salem.
