The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 72 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday that had taken the total number of the affected cases to 1755 so far in the territory including the active, recovered, and deceased patients and the state has also recorded two more deaths through which the death toll currently stands at 22.
The state health department has issued the official figures with the latest developments concerning the outbreak in the state. According to the official figures, the state has tested 72,403 samples, so far including 6,426 which were tested on Friday of which 72 have confirmed to be positive for the virus taking the total number of the affected cases to 1,755 and 25,503 people have been put under home quarantine currently while 19 have been admitted at the government quarantine facilities.

As per the press release, it can be learned that the state has recorded two more fatalities putting the death toll to 20 and the release also highlighted the welcoming news that 114 people have been recovered and discharged from the hospital on Friday, which has marked as one of the highest numbers of discharges so far through which the state has reported 866 total discharges so far.
The state currently has 34 COVID-19 testing facilities in its territory of which 23 belong to the government while the rest belong to private and it also has 3,371 ventilators available to treat the patients along with 29,074 isolation beds across the state. For the past few days, the graph of total affected cases has been fluctuating with a rise and decline amid the lockdown that has been imposed to flatten the curve of the affected cases.
On Thursday, the state has reported 54 fresh cases and two fatalities and the health department hasn't disclosed further information about the fatalities. Of these 72 fresh cases, 52 belong to Chennai through which Chennai tops the table with having the most number of cases in the state. The capital currently has 452 cases while Krishnagiri is the only district in the state with no positive case.
As of Friday evening, the state reported 1,755 positive cases of which 864 are active patients, 866 have been discharged while 22, including two fresh fatalities, had succumbed to the virus.
