Corona outbreak: Tamil Nadu reports 52 fresh cases taking the total to 1,937!

The state of Tamil Nadu has reported 52 fresh cases that were tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday taking the total number of affected cases to 1,937 so far including the active, recovered, and deceased patients. The state has been witnessing a stable rise in the number of discharges each day which has been surpassing the active cases. 

The state health department has officially put out the press release of the latest developments concerning the outbreak in the state. According to the press release, the state has tested 94,781 samples so far including 7,176 samples that were tested on Monday, of which 52 samples returned positive for the virus taking the tally of affected cases to 1,937 so far. Of these 52 fresh cases, 33 are male patients while the rest are females. 

 

As far as the total number of cases is concerned, 1,312 are males while 625 are females. The press release further stated that 29,797 people have currently been kept under home quarantine while 36 have been admitted to the government quarantine facilities. Along with reporting 52 positive cases, the state has also reported 81 discharges on Monday through which the total number of discharges currently stands at 1,101 which is more than the active cases. 

The state has reported no fatality for the day and the death toll stands at 24 and 1,870 people across the state have been admitted at the isolation wards after they have been suspected with the positive symptoms for COVID-19. Out of 52 fresh cases, 47 cases belong to Chennai, while four are from Madurai, and one belongs to Villupuram.

Through the current numbers, Chennai still tops the table by reporting the most number of positive cases in the state. The capital has reported 570 cases so far followed by Coimbatore (141) and Tirupur (112) while Krishnagiri continues to be the only district in the state with no positive case in its territory, according to the health department. 

The state has been going through the fluctuating graph of a rise and fall in the total number of cases while the government has been aiming to flatten the curve of COVID-19 affected cases. As of Monday evening, the state has reported 1,937 positive cases of which 809 are active patients, 1,101 have been discharged while 24 had succumbed to the virus.
