In the middle of the lockdown and restrictions, Tamil Nadu has been witnessing the surging number of positive cases for the Coronavirus in its territory each day. On Friday, the state has reported with 102 fresh cases affected by the virus that had put the total number of affected cases to 411 including active, recovered, and deceased patients.
By this time last week, the state had reported with 35 cases and in the span of seven days, the state has added 376 cases in its count by accounting for consistent highest single-day rises in the total number of the cases. With the current numbers, Tamil Nadu is the second Indian state to have more number of affected cases after Maharashtra that was reported with 416 cases so far.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister has issued the conformity of the fresh cases. Although, according to the reports, the Health Ministry is yet to disclose the details of how these fresh cases have infected by the virus and where they have been getting treated. The Health Minister further stated that the state has screened 2,10,538 cases so far and it has received samples from 3,684 people of which 2789 are turned negative, 411 have tested positive for the virus while 484 are under process.

These fresh cases have been reported in less than 24 hours of the reporting of 75 cases and on Thursday, the total number of affected cases stood at 309 including the 75 cases of which 74 have attended the Jamaat Conference in Delhi. According to the health department, of these 309 cases, 264 have attended the conference in Delhi which was organized by Tablighi Jamaat last month and this conference has become the epicenter for the virus in India as it was attended by more than two thousand people including Indians and foreign people from the virus-hit countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.
The state government of Tamil Nadu said that 1,500 people from the state had participated in the conference and of which, 1,100 had returned to the state while the rest have stayed in Delhi due to the lockdown. The participants of the conference including asymptomatic cases have arrived in various Indian states and cities. The state has been reporting more cases that were directly or indirectly linked to the Jamaat Conference. On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu reported with 110 fresh cases affected by the virus and all of them have identified to have participated in the Delhi conference and three-figured rise at one shot has marked as the highest single-day rise in the state so far.
Earlier, the state government has appealed to the people who returned from the Delhi conference to come forward and declare themselves for the sake of the safety of themselves, their families, and society after which hundreds of people who attended the conference came forward and approached the government hospitals for further testing and examinations. According to the reports, the members of Jamaat were closely staying with other participants and preachers who arrived in India from the virus-hit countries following which the human to human transmitting virus has been affecting many people. The virus has affected 19 districts in Tamil Nadu with more numbers of cases in Chennai and the numbers may differ once the health department discloses the details of these 102 fresh cases. Of these 411, 403 are active patients and seven have been discharged and one has died due to the virus.
