Corona outbreak: Tamil Nadu has lost its first doctor due to the pandemic!

In the middle of the complete lockdown, Tamil Nadu has lost its first doctor due to the Coronavirus pandemic on Sunday along with witnessing a rise in the number of positive cases for the virus in its territory. 

According to the reports, the deceased doctor was a 55-year-old neurosurgeon and serving as the head of the private hospital in Chetpet, Chennai. He was tested positive for the virus two weeks ago and getting treated at Apollo Hospital in the city. Due to his health conditions, he was treated under ventilator support. Despite the treatments, he died of cardiac arrest on Sunday evening around 6.15 pm becoming the first doctor in the state to die due to the virus.

The reports stated that his source of infection is yet to be identified and along with him, his daughter, who is also a doctor, had tested positive for the pandemic. On Sunday, Tamil Nadu saw the graph rising again after the decline for the past few days in the number of positive cases as it has reported 105 fresh cases that were confirmed to be affected for the virus, which has become one of the highest single-day rises so far in the state. 

Through the fresh reportings, the state has reported 1,477 cases so far and these fresh cases include a dozen frontline workers as four more doctors, a policeman, two journalists, and two nurses have been tested positive. The journalists are the first ones to get contracted for the virus on the grounds of media. Of these two, a 25-year-old man belongs to the print media while the other, a 23-year-old, works in a television channel. 

The print media reporter has been admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and another journalist has been getting treated at the Government Stanley hospital in the city. The reports stated that the Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Beela Rajesh has asked the reporters who have present in the government's press briefings to get tested for the virus at the Bharathi college which is near to Government Stanley hospital. As of Monday morning, Tamil Nadu has reported with 1,477 cases of which 1,050 are active, 411 have been discharged while 16 patients had succumbed to the virus.
