Corona outbreak: Tamil Nadu adds seven fresh cases taking the total to 74!

Tamil Nadu has reported with seven fresh cases that were tested positive for the Coronavirus on Tuesday amid the statewide lockdown that has been put in place to mitigate the spread of the virus. With the reporting of these fresh cases, the state has added the total numbers of infected cases which now stands at 74 including active, recovered, and deceased patients.

According to the National Health Mission- Tamil Nadu, these seven cases include a 43-year-old male who has a travel history to Trivandrum, a 28-year-old male who is the co-worker of the already affected patient while the rest five have travel history to Delhi. The Health Mission stated that the 43-year-old has been admitted at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai and the 28-year-old has been getting treated at Tiruvannamalai Medical College and of the rest five, three have been admitted at the Villupuram Medical College while the two have been admitted at the Rajaji government hospital in Madurai.

 

The Health Mission asserted that all seven patients are doing stable and kept under isolation for further treatments. The state has been adding more positive cases in its tally for the past few days amid the curfew as about 50 cases have been reported positive for the virus since the curfew has been rolled out across the state to curb the spread of the pandemic. 

On Monday, the state marked its highest single-day rise after it recorded 17 positive cases in its territory and of these 17, 10 patients have been getting treated at Perundurai, Erode district, which has become the new epicenter for the virus with the most number of cases in the state.

Of these 74 positive cases in the state, most of the cases have travel histories to different countries or different Indian cities while the rest have been infected by the virus by coming through the direct contact with already affected patients. According to state health minister Vijayabaskar, the state has tested samples of 2040 people so far of which 74 tested positive including five recovered and one deceased patient while the rest of the samples returned negative.

The state has been witnessing soaring cases tested positive for the human to human transmitting virus. As of Tuesday morning, the state has reported with 74 cases so far in its territory and of these 74, 68 are active while five cases (one Oman return patient native of Kanchipuram, one Ireland return patient of Chennai native, one Delhi return, and two US returns who belong to the state) have been recovered from the virus and discharged from the hospital and they have been advised to remain under home quarantine and one patient, 54-old- man has died due to the virus on last Wednesday in Madurai making the state to record its first fatality.

The active cases including Indian nationals and foreign nationals ( two Thai Nationals at Erode and four Indonesians at Salem) have been getting treated under isolation across the hospitals in the state.
