Corona outbreak: Kerala reports with six new cases including a 3-year-old child!

Nearly weeks after reporting with the recovery of the three positive cases of Coronavirus, the state of Kerala has now recorded with six fresh cases that have been tested positive of the epidemic including a three-year-old child who has become the first child in India tested positive for the virus.

According to the reports, the state government of Kerala has on Monday confirmed that the three-year-old child has infected with the virus. The child's family had arrived in Kochi from Italy via Dubai on March 7th and while they have gone through the universal screening at the airport, it was identified that the child has developed the fever.

He was then taken to the Medical college hospital in Ernakulam after which his samples were taken. The reports have stated that the results of the tests turned positive on Monday and after the child was declared positive, the government officials had started to locate the people including the passengers and the airline staff who have come under direct contact with the child.

Along with the child, his parents - mother works as a nurse in Italy, were quarantined and taken to the isolation wards and the officials had collected their samples for further examinations. The state government said that the airport officials who had attained the contact with the child have now been taken for observation. The revelation of the fresh cases had made Kerala stay vigilant and in high alert. The reports have stated that the child is doing stable and receiving treatments in Ernakulam hospital.

On Sunday, the Kerala government has issued the conformity that the state has five people who have tested positive for the virus. Of these five, three arrived in the state from Italy on February 29th. The reports stated that they allegedly failed to disclose their travel history to the local health officials and on March 5th, they went to the private hospital after developing fever but they have hidden their travel history. However, their neighbors had on March 6th gone to the local hospital with the symptoms during which they divulged the authorities about the Italy return family in their neighborhood. The health officials had taken all the five (three Italy return and two neighbors) and admitted at the isolation wards and on Sunday, their test results had shockingly revealed that all the five had turned out to be positive to the virus.

Following them, the three-year-old child was tested positive on Monday that has put up to a total of six cases in Kerala and the increase has contributed to the rise in the numbers of cases in India. According to the recent reports, India has 42 cases in its territory. The Kerala government has declared a holiday of three days for all the educational institutions in the Pathanamthitta district as part of containing the spread of the epidemic.

The virus has claimed the lives of 3,800 people across the world with more fatalities reported from China. Following China, Italy has been coming through devasting developments as in the past 24 hours, the European country reported with more than 1,600 positive cases following which the country's northern part has been imposed with the severe lockdown. Northern Italy is home to a quarter of the country's total population and the lockdown has feared to affect crores of people. The 42 positive cases in India include 16 Italian nationals who were touring India, a man native of Agra who has recent travel history from Italy and the six recent cases in Kerala that have arrived from Italy.
