India has reported the third death due to the Coronavirus in its territory on Tuesday as a 63-year-old man native of Maharashtra had died after testing positive for the virus. He was undergoing treatment at Kasturba Hospital in Chinchpokli, Mumbai and through his demise, the state of Maharashtra has recorded its first casualty due to the epidemic.
The reports say that another patient getting treated for the epidemic at Kasturba Hospital has been in the critical stage. On Tuesday, the state reported with two fresh cases - one in Mumbai and the other in Pune following which the state has now been housing 41 cases in its territory. Of these cases, 40 people (26 men and 14 women) have been admitted to the government hospitals in the state.
According to the health officials, the deceased is the native of Mumbai and he had an existing ailment of blood pressure and adding to that, he was reported with increased heart rate that had contributed to his death. Earlier, his wife and son were tested positive for the virus and they have been getting treatments at the same hospital.
The reports have stated that the deceased man had returned to Mumbai after completing his business trip to Dubai on March 5th and he got admitted to Mahim's Hinduja Hospital nearly three days after he arrived in the city. His samples were collected and dispatched to Kasturba Hospital and the results returned positive on March 12th after which he went through further treatments.
However, his health failed to respond and he has died on Tuesday making India record the third casualty due to the Coronavirus. Earlier, a 76- year-old man from Kalaburagi in Karnataka and a 68-year-old woman from Delhi had died due to the global pandemic. Although the Central and various state governments have been rolling out preventive and precautionary measures to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, India has been reporting with soaring high cases every day.
According to CovidIndia.org, India has reported with 148 confirmed cases and three deaths as on Wednesday (March 18th) noon. The state of Maharashtra has a more number of cases (41) in the country followed by Kerala (27), Haryana (16), Uttar Pradesh (16), Jammu and Kashmir (9), and Rajasthan (4). According to the website, about 14 positive cases have been recovered so far in the country and as on March 16th over 9000 people have gone through the tests. At the world stage, the global pandemic has affected 148 countries and 1,98,730 people of which 7,989 people have died while 82,779 people have been recovered.
