The Tamil Nadu state government has been rolling out the preventive measures and the containment plan to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID19) in its territory and as part of the containment plan, the government has surveyed 6.88 lakh people in 16 districts in the state that have been affected by the pandemic.
According to the statement issued by the government on Wednesday, it has stated that 6,88,473 individuals in 16 districts were surveyed until March 31st with the view of mitigating the spread of the virus. Under the containment plan, the seven-kilometer radius from the residence of the virus-hit patient would be marked and brought under the scanner after which the health department officials would be checking each residence that falls under the radius to ensure that no one shows any positive symptoms of the virus.
The containment plan has also been implemented by the Greater Chennai Corporation to grip up the fight against the spread of the virus. The corporation has started its plan on Monday and according to the reports, the residences in the city which house the Corona affected patients will be marked as the epicenters and around each epicenter house, 2500 houses will be taken as the focus area and each house will be inspected door to door daily to track the cases of fever or other symptoms.
The Corporation has deployed 2500 DBC workers, 1500 School teachers, 1500 Anganwadi workers, and 750 Health nurses to carry out the containment plan and they will be given with all protection devices and basic inquiries will be done from a safer distance. On Wednesday, the state has identified 81 foreign passengers who are asymptomatic to the virus and the government stated that all these people are from highly affected countries and they have been quarantined in the facilities installed near the airport. A total of 209,288 people were screened at the airports so far and of these numbers, 77,330 are under home quarantine for 28 days while 630 people are getting treated at the hospital.
As of Tuesday, the state reported with 124 cases and of these 124, 118 are active with most numbers of patients in Erode, Tirunelveli, Namakkal, and Chennai and five have been recovered and discharged from the hospitals while one patient - a 54-year-old man had died due to the virus on last Wednesday making the state to record its first fatality. Over 16 districts in the state have affected by the pandemic and the active cases include Indian nationals and foreign nationals and are getting treated under isolation at the various hospitals in the state.
