Condolences pour in as TN political leaders pay homage to DMK's Anbazhagan!

As DMK's General Secretary K Anbazhagan, who held the post for more than four decades, has passed away in the wee hours of Saturday at the age of 97, the political leaders of Tamil Nadu have been paying their respects and homage to the deceased leader by breaking the party lines and the differences.

Anbazhagan was receiving treatment at the private hospital in Chennai for the past two weeks for his age-related ailments. However, his health was deteriorating and he passed away at 1 am on Saturday. His body was transported from the hospital to his residence in Kilpauk, Chennai and kept for the public to pay homage.

Since the news of his demise hit the headlines, the senior party leaders, party members, leaders of the other political parties, and notable figures in the state have been paying condolences to the deceased leader. The pictures of people gathering at the spot show how painful his death was and how important he has been in Tamil Nadu politics. The reports say that the leaders have been lining up to pay their last respect.

 

PMK's founder Dr.Ramadoss took to Twitter and stated that "I'm deeply shocked to learn the demise of DMK's General Secretary and one of the pioneers of the Dravidian movement Perasiriyar K Anbazhagan. He is one of the politicians with integrity. I pay my condolences for everyone who burdened through his demise". AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran tweeted that "I'm saddened to know the demise of Perasiriyar Anbazhagan. I'm extending deep condolences to everyone on the loss of one of the senior-most politicians in Tamil Nadu".

 

VCK chief Thol.Thirumalavan issued a statement through Twitter in which he stated that "the loss of Anbazhagan is an irreplaceable loss to the Tamil community. On behalf of VCK, I salute him and extend condolences to his family members to the DMK party". Actor turned politician and President of Makkal Needhi Maiam Kamal Haasan stated " The loss of K Anbazhagan, the veteran leader of Tamil Nadu, the perspicuity of Dravidian ideology, and the leader who persisted in the party till his death, has brought an agony. My deepest condolences to his family members and his party".

 

Senior BJP leader Pon. Radhakrishnan said that "the demise of K Anbazhagan has deeply saddened me and I extend my condolences to the party and the family members who suffer from his loss". Actor and Political hopeful Rajinikanth has paid his homage to the deceased leader in his residence and while addressing the reporters, Rajinikanth said that the demise of Anbazhagan is the biggest loss. He stated that Anbazhagan has earned respect and courtesy in his lifetime and he extended his condolences to his family members.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has said that the loss of Anbazhagan is the biggest loss for Tamil Nadu and he has placed his condolences to the family members and the party who are burdened with his loss. The Chief Minister further stated that the deceased leader has expressed his diversity in the politics and he has served efficiently as the state minister, MP, and as MLA.

DMK leaders like party's president MK Stalin, party's treasurer Duraimurugan, DMK MP Kanimozhi, A Raja, KN Nehru, and senior leaders had paid homage to the deceased leader. Some of the notable figures like Veteran communist leader Nallakannu, Actors Rajinikanth, Satyaraj, Lyricist Vairamuthu, and Congress leader Thirunavukkarasu, MDMK Chief Vaiko, and Tamil Nadu Congress Chief KS Alagiri had paid their last respect to the leader and consoled the family members.
