Class 12 Board exams in TN: Here's how students and parents can say their opinions to Govt!

As the Tamil Nadu government has relied on obtaining the views and opinions from the parents and educationalists in arriving at the final decision over conducting the board exams for Class 12 students in light of the horrendous second wave of the pandemic. After a high-level meeting that was held on Wednesday, the government has announced that it will take the final decision of whether to conduct the board exams in two days. 

With the view of obtaining views and opinions from the students of Class 12 and their parents over whether or not to conduct the board exams, the government has issued contact details through which the students and parents can share their views about conducting the exams and their say would play a pivotal role in government's final decision, that we can expect would be unveiled by Saturday. 

According to reports, the parents and Class 12 students can contact the "14417" toll-free number to say their opinions to the government or they can send their opinions to mail - "tnschooledu21@gmail.com". The announcement of contact details has come hours after the meeting presided by Chief Minister MK Stalin. The meeting was attended by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and higher authorities.

The meeting was held a day after the Central government has cancelled the board exams for CBSE Class 12 students this year in light of the pandemic. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the CBSE Class 12 board exams are cancelled this year with the view of health and safety of the students amid the second wave of the pandemic. 

Narendra Modi said, "Health and safety of our students are of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect. Anxiety among students, parents, and teachers, which must be put to an end." "Students should not be forced to appear for exams in such a stressful situation and all stakeholders need to show sensitivity for students", the Prime Minister added. As the Tamil Nadu government has asserted it will take a decision after the Center's announcement, the state government has convened a meeting on Tuesday. 

After the meeting, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has asserted that the final decision over the Class 12 board exams will be taken in two days. While addressing the reporters, the minister said that the decision over the Class 12 board exams will be taken in two days after obtaining the views and opinions from the parents, health experts, and educationalists.

He further added that the students in Tamil Nadu are in a divide as while some students are in favour of conducting the exams, others are against conducting the exams at this juncture in light of the pandemic. Earlier, the state government has asserted that it will conduct the board exams for Class 12 at any cost and it was speculated that the exams will be conducted between July and August after the pandemic has come under control. 

After the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 board exams, the Tamil Nadu government has now invited the students, parents, and educationalists to decide over conducting the Class 12 board exams for the students who belong to the state board. On Tuesday, the Tamil Nadu government has declared the students between Class 1 to Class 8 as all pass, and earlier, the government has cancelled the board exams for Classes 9 to 11.
