Amid the speculations on the commencement of the class ten board exams in Tamil Nadu, State School Education Minister Sengottaiyan has, on Tuesday, said that the board exams for the tenth-grade students in the state would begin on June 1st.
According to the minister, the tenth-grade exams would begin on June 1st and run till June 12th. He asserted that the adequate facilities would be arranged for the students to ensure that they don't face any hindrance during the examination tenure and he stated that the examination centers would be equipped with the social distancing norms. However, the minister hasn't issued any conformity on the re-opening of the schools that have been closed for the past six weeks in the wake of the statewide lockdown.
The school education department has issued the examination schedule for the secondary students letting them know about the dates of the examination. Earlier last week, Sengottaiyan had told the schedule for board exam would be released in the last week of June. It was speculated that the exams would be conducted in the first week of July after the resumption of the educational institutions.
The reports stated that the final decision was taken and the schedule was fixed after multiple discussions and review meetings carried out by the minister. The usual schedule of the board exams had met with the unprecedented delay in the state for the current academic year in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak. The government has imposed the lockdown and closed the educational institutions.
The lockdown deferred the tenth board exam that was earlier scheduled on March 27 by citing the pandemic. It also has delayed the publication of the results of class 12 board exams contributing to the postponements of applying to colleges and universities. The Tamil Nadu government has stressed that it hasn't canceled the class ten board exams and it would be conducting the exams sooner.
After two months of delay from the usual schedule, the announcement has finally come and the class ten students would be appearing for the board exams from June 1st till June 12th. Education Minister Sengottaiyan has put out the developments on Tuesday while addressing the reporters and he further stated that the pending board exams for class eleven students would begin on June 2nd.
He added that the class 12 students, who missed their exams on March 24th due to the lack of transports, can re-appear for that particular exam on June 4th. According to the reports, around 36,000 students of class 12 had missed their exams on March 24. According to the schedule, the tenth students would write their language paper on June 1st, English on June 3rd, Mathematics on June 5th, Optional language on June 6th, Science on June 8th, Social Science on June 10th, and Vocational Subjects on June 12th. Class ten board exams were earlier scheduled from March 27th to April 13th.
