As part of the enhanced lockdown that has been imposed for 12 days from June 19 to June 30, Chennai and the areas in Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram districts that fall under and the Greater Chennai police limits would go under full and complete shutdown on two Sundays of the enhanced lockdown tenure - June 21 and June 28.
These four districts will see no relaxations in these two Sundays as by curbing the spread of COVID-19 in these districts, the government hopes for a sign of flattening the curve across the state and it becomes imperative that the residents of these areas know about how the remaining Sundays of June would look like amid the lockdown.
According to the state government, two Sundays -June 21 and 28 would see strict restrictions. The complete lockdown would come into effect from 00.00 hours on June 20 to 06.00 hours on June 22 and 00.00 hours on June 27 to 06.00 hours on June 29. While the enhanced lockdown has limited the working hours of the essential shops, these complete lockdowns would arrest these relaxations.
