A DMK functionary was caught red-handedly in a surveillance camera stealing a gold chain in a jewellery shop in Tiruchendur, Tamil Nadu. Based on the footage, the jewellery owner has lodged a complaint against the functionary and the footage has been going viral on social media. 

The functionary was identified as Porkodi who is the eighth ward secretary of Angamangalam Panchayat Council for the DMK. The heist happened on August 20 in a jewellery shop at North Car street in Tiruchendur. Porkodi enters what looks like a deserted shop and asks the owner to display the jewels. Moments later, she apparently diverts the owner asking for more collections due to which he was busy searching. 

When she was not noticed by the owner, Porkodi steals the gold chain that is placed before her and she then replaces it with a gold-plated chain. She was seen removing the price tag from the gold chain and tying the same on the gold-plated chain. When the owner came up with more collections, Porkodi leaves the shop with the stolen gold chain. 

The shopkeeper develop suspicion over Porkodi's action and after she left the shop, he looked CCTV footage which had clearly revealed that she has stolen a gold chain and replaced it with a gold-plated chain.  It has been reported that based on the footage, the owner has filed a complaint with the police and the incident has shocked the fellow DMK functionaries.
