Amidst the heated agitations and the uproars against the prejudiced Citizenship Amendment Act that had directed the protests and the clashes between students and the security forces especially in Delhi and in Uttar Pradesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has, on Thursday, accused the Congress party of supporting the violence in the nation's capital and claimed that its time to punish the gang that instigating the violence.
While addressing a public rally in Delhi, Shah called the people of Delhi to punish the gang which is responsible for the violence in the streets of the city with the backing of the Congress party and he also accused the opposition parties of airing misinformation and inciting the violence in the name of opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act.
His comments on punishing the gang have come at the time when Amry Chief General Bipin Rawat has criticized the people for the protests over the Citizenship Act and the general said that the leadership is not about guiding masses, including students to roll out the protests and violence.
By citing the protests of a large number of university and college students, Rawat stated that the leaders are not those who lead the people in inappropriate directions. Soon after he made his comments, the opposition parties have condemned the general for his remarks on political issues. The reports have revealed that Bipin Rawat is due to retire from his current position of Army Chief on December 31st after which he would likely be elevated as India's first Joint Chief of Defense staff where he will be the Chief Adviser for the government on the three defense forces - Army, Air force, and the Navy.
