CAA Protests: Stir intensifies in Chennai as protesters defy the ban!

The city of Chennai has been flagging the agitations against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the anger and the unrest that prevail across the state had showcased fierce protests that had led the protestors to defy the ban that was imposed by the Chennai city police with the view of lowering the tensions.

On Thursday, despite the ban, the protestors hold a rally at Valluvar Kottam in Nungambakkam area of the downtown Chennai to pressurize the government to annul the amended Citizenship Act and the rally which was started with about 350 people had eventually seen the presence of more than 1,200 including Actor Siddharth, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi chief Thol. Thirumavalavan, and singer T M Krishna who camped in the tent of the protestors and expressed their solidarity to the people who gathered in one of the city's congested areas.

Some of the protestors took the rally with their children while the young people batched in groups and seen raising slogans against the amendment and seen holding the placards to urge the government to revoke the biased and handicapped bill. In line with the protests at the capital, the state's important cities Coimbatore and Trichy had staged protests where about 74 people detained by the police in Trichy and the Coimbatore police had rejected its consent for some of the organizations to host the protests in some of the Muslim stronghold areas of the city.

Of those who were arrested in Trichy includes 36 youths who belong to the Students Federation of India and they were detained after they allegedly attempted to enter the platforms at the Trichy railway station by carrying the placards against the bill. On Friday, the Chennai city police had booked about 600 people including Actor Siddharth, VCK chief Thirumavalavan, and T M Krishna under the grounds of violating the ban and to organize the rally without the consent from the concern authorities. They would likely be interrogated by the cops for their alleged involvement in the rally by defying the ban.

On the other hand, actor and Political hopeful Rajinikanth had finally revealed his notion on the prevailing uncertainty. The actor has broken his silence on Thursday and took his official Twitter handle to express his concern in which he said that the violence and communal riots shouldn't become the way towards finding a solution to any issue. By not directly mentioning the incident and the protests, he called the Indian people to stay in the line of integrity, unity, and awareness to uphold the national security and national interest. He cited that the ongoing violence across the country gives him great pain.
