Bomb threat to CM MK Stalin's residence: No, the caller is not whom you think!

The Chennai police have arrested a 28-year-old man for making a bomb threat to Chief Minister MK Stalin's residence. The call was made on Saturday night and it was eventually found out to be a hoax. While it was speculated that the call was made by a person in Villupuram, who has been habitual of making such hoax bomb threats to the leaders and celebrities, the police had traced out a differently-abled man in the Chengalpattu district for making the call to the Chief Minister's residence.

According to reports, the police control room in Chennai had received the call that bombs have been kept in the Chief Minister's residence. Following the call, the local police officials and the bomb detection squad were alerted and they have arrived at the residence. After two hours of an extensive search, the officials had declared that the bomb threat was a hoax and with the help of the phone number from where the call was received, the police had traced a 28-year-old man in the Chengalpattu district.

The man was identified as Iyappan, a native of Vadaporundhavakkam village near Tiruporur. He was later arrested by the police and while investigating, Iyappan has confessed that he had made the fake bomb threat. He further said that he was frustrated over not being offered a house under a state government scheme. He said that he had been repeatedly sending petitions looking for a house due to his financial condition.

However, his petitions didn't get consideration by the officials following which he decided to issue a bomb threat call to the Chief Minister to draw attention. Inquiries had further revealed that he had last year made a hoax bomb threat at Koyambedu bus terminus. CMBT police had registered a case against him last year and arrested him. He had got bail later and he has now been apprehended for making a bomb threat to the Chief Minister.
