BJP's Youth wing warns actor Suriya...threatens to take legal action against him!

In an unprecedented fashion, Tamil Nadu BJP's Youth wing has passed a resolution of warning actor Suriya for speaking against the Modi regime and criticizing NEET. The resolution has come days after the actor had strongly slammed the national entrance exam by stating that it loots the future of the poor students in Tamil Nadu. The youth wing of the saffron party has also adopted a resolution against MK Stalin-led state government.

According to reports, the youth wing of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit has convened a meeting that was held at the party's state headquarters Kamalalayam in Chennai. The meeting was chaired by BJP state youth wing secretary Vinoj Selvam. In the meeting, the party has passed seven resolutions to affirm allegiance to the Modi regime. One of these seven resolutions had condemned Suriya's campaign against NEET.

The BJP, through the resolution, has claimed that the actor continues to speak untruthfully about NEET and has been voicing against the public welfare schemes of the Modi government and laws with the motive for self-promotion. The party has also reprimanded actor Suriya for protesting against the Cinematography Amendment Bill (CAB) 2021. In a fashion of warning the actor, the BJP's youth wing has said that it will initiate legal action against Suriya if he continues his protest against NEET and CAB.

In another resolution, the BJP's youth wing has condemned the Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government for spreading misinformation about NEET and confusing people. The party has also passed a resolution praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's handling of the Covid crisis across the country, especially the second wave. Another resolution has urged the state government to reopen Navodaya schools in the state.

The youth wing has urged the state government to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel and it has also demanded the government to take measures to recover the illegally occupied lands that belong to the temples in Tamil Nadu. The party has asked the government to return the lands to the Hindu temples. The resolutions have come at a high time when the BJP and the state-ruling DMK are locking horns over NEET. The DMK is slamming the Central ruling party for playing a double game on the national entrance exam.

Last month, Suriya has penned a scathing letter against the NEET by stating that the exam loots the future of the poor students in Tamil Nadu. Suriya has been a strong critic of NEET and in his letter, he said that the 'One Examination System' to determine the competency is against social justice. He further said, "NEET exam had fired the dreams and ambitions of thousands of students who dreamt of becoming a doctor. The scar caused by the pain of losing the dream will never disappear. The entrance exams like 'NEET' are dangerous for the interest of students and states".

On the front of Cinematography Amendment Bill 2021, Suriya has said, "The law exists for protecting the freedom of expression. Not to strangulate it." The CAB is the latest controversial bill of the Modi regime that has drawn massive outrage from the filmmakers and fraternities. The draft bill gives more power to the Union government to revoke the certification of the movie, which was already been certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The fraternities say that the proposed amendment will make them weak at the hands of the state and more vulnerable to threats, vandalism, and intimidation of mob censors. They further say that undermining the sovereignty of the Censor Board and the Supreme Court, this provision will effectively give the Central government supreme power over cinema exhibitions in the country, potentially endangering freedom of expression and democratic dissent.
